Vinothek 1620, Jan 28
The Vinothek 1620 is the place in Andermatt to find your favorite wine. Therefore we were happy to invite into the warm basement bar for our third wine tasting. The family run winery Adank is located right at the boarder to Lichtenstein at the food of the Alps. From there Patrick brought not only a variety of red and white wines, but also a sparkling wine, which you rarely find in Switzerland. This sparkling wine is produced by hand and matures for two years in an old military bunker. Even though this does not sound very romantic, it offers perfect conditions to produce this dry and refreshing sparkling wine, which we not only recommend as an Apéro, but also to accompany food.
A highlight was the white Pinot Gris. This wine is inspired by the wineries in the French Alsace and gives a lot of taste, structure and body. Even though the white Adank wines are great, the biggest part of the six acres the family cultivates is designated to the grape Pinot Noir. The Flascher Pinot Noir comes with a fruity taste and little tannins, as the berries are pressed without the stems and stored in used big barrels. On the other hand the Spondis Pinot Noir comes from extremely steep vineyards and is stored for 20 month in wooden barrels. It therefore presents the density, force and elegance of the Pinot Noir in a very strong way.
