Die Alt Apothek @ The River House, Jan 27
“Life is too short to drink bad wine.” This motto of Johann Wolfgang Goethe is also what Pasch & Söhne stands for. The wine retailer is situated in Bammental, Germany. From there it is only a 30 min drive to the huge wine area Pfalz. Therefore it seems almost logical, that Pasch & Söhne came to visit us with a full basket of wines from this area. Christoph presented his wines in the cosy bar Di Alt Apothek, located right in the center of Andermatt. As a start he brought a Riesling sparkling wine with a specially designed Ski-Academy label. We like!
Out of the white wines we especially enjoyed the 2018 Riesling, a wine with a lot of taste and a decent acidity. A signature wine of Parsch & Söhne is the Carbenet Mitos. This grape is usually only used to color wines. In pure it therefore comes with a dark red color, a cherrylike smell and a taste, that reminds you of cranberries, cassis and blackthorn. Apart from the German wines Christoph also presented some Italian wines, which Parsch & Söhne offers. Here we especially enjoyed the Valpolicella Ripasso, which brings a lot of wood and the La Rosa Primitivo. The Primitivo grapes are dried on straw and the taste gives you impressions of honey and wood. A great wine to accompany meat or strong cheese.
